SMOKY WHITE STUFF

29 October 1999

White Stuff  were recently in the news for the wrong reasons after a promotional campaign with Marlboro went awry.

After the World Health Organisation accused Philip Morris of using free cameras, watches and fleeces to entice young people to increase cigarette consumption, White Stuff, along with Seiko and BT distanced themselves from the campaign, targeted at young people in clubs.

White Stuff clothing managing director George Treves said: "We were not aware of the nature of the campaign.  We didn't know it was going to be targeted so directly at a youth market."
