Snowed under in Portillo
Heavy snowfall in Chile means that Portillo is looking good for its season start tomorrow, with a base of around 2m and good snowfall in the last week and particularly in the last 24 hours

In Argentina, resorts already open include Cerro Bayo and Chapelco, while in Chile: El Colorado, La Parva, Termas de Chillian and Valle Nevado are open for business.



Mt Ruapehu opens today
Alpine Meadow beginner's area opens on Saturday with the High Flyer Chairlift operational from Saturday, weather permitting.

Turoa Ski Area Manager, Chris Thrupp, said several decent snowfalls in the last few weeks had helped the mountain to a solid 70cm base.

The Whakapapa Ski Area is scheduled to open next Friday, June 24 after several weeks of solid snowmaking. New Zealand resorts already open include Coronet Peak and Mt Hutt.
