BURTON ABOMINABLE SNOW JAM

14 June 2005

Top notch riders head for Mt Hood

This weekend, many of the world's best snowboarders will put summer on hold and head back to the snow at Mt. Hood for the second annual Burton Abominable Snow Jam June 17 - 19 and featuring quaterpipe, halfpipe and slopestyle contests.

This year Burton brings back top notch riders, all competing for tons of cash and prizes like the Volvo V50 and Ski Doo Summit Adrenaline 600. Travis Rice will return to defend his title as the Best Overall Rider and try to take home his second Volvo.

Quarterpipe for the Ski Doo
It all starts on Friday's quarterpipe where top riders like Andy Finch, Ross Powers, Anne-Flore Marxer, Danny Kass and Heikki Sorsa will put on a show. Cash prizes go out to the riders who podium, and the female and male best trick winners will get styled out in a new Rolex watch. The highest air winners in both the men's and women's quarterpipe take home a Ski Doo Summit Adrenaline 600 for next season's backcountry sessions.

Halfpipe for the Mac
Saturday will be all about the halfpipe; heavy hitters like Gretchen Bleiler, Alexis Waite, Molly Aguirre, Ross Powers, Andy Finch, Nicolas Müller, Danny Kass and Travis Rice will take on the soft summer pipe for cash prizes and a Mac G4 for the best trick in both the men's and women's contests.

Slopestyle for the Sony
Closing the event on Sunday is the men's and women's slopestyle competition at Timberline's public park. The contest will draw riders like Marc Frank, Tadashi Fuse, Janna Meyen, Leanne Pelosi, Nicolas Müller, JJ Thomas and Eddie Wall - all throwing down their signature styles for a chance to win cash prizes and a Sony HDV Camcorder for best trick.

With a little luck, you may catch a glimpse of the yeti roaming through the trees, checking out the riders and hanging with his yeti lady friend.
