After
those busy February half term weekends and manic airport transfers
days with airport closures and huge delays we were blessed with
some great snow conditions and at last it's warmed up after the
coldest February and beginning of March that anyone can remember.
And while I was on the same
chairlift above I couldn't help take this shot of an unknown skier
going down big time...
Charity Day
So some great powder days eventually and the locals routes through
the trees down towards La Tania and the Folyeres piste have been
skied at last. Preparations have begun for the annual La Tania end
of season Charity Day to be held on Wednesday 13th April 2005. This
was started up 4 years ago by Season Worker Dan Provost and we've
now raised over €30,000 for Cancer Charities.
This year it will be bigger
than ever and is supported by the La Tania Mayor, The Tourist Office
and all the businesses in La Tania. We've a bbq, hog roast, live
bands, Harley rides, silly games for kids & adults, fancy dress,
outdoor bar, raffle, ski(ish) race, ski school tug of war, charity
auction, ski javelin, saisonnaires poll, DJ DoubleDex and lots more.
Noon until late - EVERYBODY welcome!

Band action
Shibboleth finally made it back to the Alps and also the welcome
return of Super Fly (now known as The Feeling) for a couple of weeks
- rumours of record deals abound and they're involved in the next
Sophie Ellis-Bexter album (girlfriend of guitarist Rich - to be
married in June we hear). Meanwhile Campari Impact (two thirds of
only came out to the Alps for the birds on the promise of Bjorn
Again George) - still haven't pulled...
A royal pint at the lodge?
As rumours of a Royal Visit to Meribel Village gather pace rest
assured we'll have the first pics of Prince William doing Toffee
Vodka Shots at Lodge du Village and dancing to Shibboleth playing
Teen Spirit....
So another week and we're in
to Easter and then empty pistes, sunshine (along with a few good
snow falls hopefully) and then Charity Day and closing parties -
Has this season gone quicker than previous or what? Maybe that's
why La Tania stays open a week longer this year, the same closing
date as Courchevel 1850, right up to the 24th April 2005.
