Here's a round up of what's going on with the North American-wide snowfest that’s dropping fat flakes everywhere from California to Colorado, Vancouver to Vermont and just about every day in between. The majority of ski resorts and mountain ranges in North America have decent coverage right now and it's dumping as I write, so it’s up to you to give yourself an early gift for the holidays and GO RIDING!

Killington - 4.5 feet fresh powder!
While the Northeast corridor continues to dig out from the season’s first winter snowstorm, skiers and riders have been taking advantage of four and a half feet of new snow that fell across Killington’s trails this past week. From Saturday morning through Sunday, Killington received 39 inches of new snow and now expects to offer up to 100 trails, 35 miles and 19 lifts for the weekend, the most open terrain in the East. Pico Mountain, Killington’s seventh mountain, will open for the season Friday.

New Mexico
New snow fell at all of New Mexico’s winter resorts on Monday leaving behind up to a foot of new snow. The fresh snowfall is right on time for this week’s openings at Angel Fire Resort and Ski Santa Fe. Snowfall totals from Monday night and early Tuesday morning are:
Angel Fire - 8”
Enchanted Forest XC Ski Area - 12”
Red River - 9”
Sipapu - 7-9”
Ski Apache - 7”
Ski Santa Fe - 11”
Taos Ski Valley - 10”

Winter Park - 7 feet of snow so far
It’s a POWDER DAY at Winter Park Resort, Colorado! The slopes are covered in 11.5 inches of light wonderful snow. The skiing is incredible. Ski patrol is dropping ropes on trails all over the Winter Park and Mary Jane, and freshies are everywhere! Best of all…it’s STILL snowing. This brings our season-to-date total to 84 inches…..yes, over 7 feet of snow have landed on the slopes in the past five weeks so conditions are exceptional and primed for holiday skiing.

Sunday River - 42 inches fresh snow
The Maine resort received a whopping 42 inches of snow out of last weekend’s storm, which enabled the resort to more than double its open terrain from 33 trails to 64. This weekend, expect to see about 75 trails open for the weekend. All of South Ridge is now open and the Perfect Turn ski school is fully operational.

Fortress - too much snow to open!
Fortress Mountain, Calgary, Alberta was set to open December 12th with a significant overhaul of the lift system. However, too much snow has slowed the progress of the upgrades and the resort has had to delay opening until December 19th (construction permitting). The unusual early season abundance of snow has made it difficult for the machinery and equipment to take position to complete the construction.

Whiteface - 41 inches in 72 hrs
Gore Mt has seen 20 inches fall in last 7 days; Whiteface Tt picked up 41inches in past 72 hrs; Verizon Sports Complex cross country skiing in Lake Placid piled up 22 inches on the weekend. The skiing yesterday was epic at Whiteface with powder everywhere. We have over 20 trails open with skiing / riding down 2,500 vertical feet.
