Burton Snowboards and Livigno, the major showboard resort in Italy, are already preparing for the Burton European Open, the biggest rider-driven and pure freestyle event in Southern Europe

Revolution and evolution
The Burton European Open,10-17January, 2004, show cases incredible snowboarding, changing perceptions of what is possible on a snowboard. Also featured will be a unique display of the past, present, and future of snowboarding history, manufacturing and board development, explaining how snowboarding has evolved over the years.

The course will be top class - Claes Högström from Sweden is again in charge of the Halfpipe, back in Livigno, for the third year running. The Slopestyle will be lovingly shaped an designed by Norwegian Lars Eriksen, who is the mastermind behind the massive Hemsedal kicker.

Open to all, and big prizes
The competition features both Halfpipe and Slopestyle, open for any competitor, and you can register via the Open site. For the first time in any snowboard contest, Slopestyle will be opened up for women and children, as well as men.

Apart from the cash purse prizes, as part of the Ticket To Ride (TTR) Snowboard Series, the Open will again present two Tickets To Ride for the lucky winners of the Men´s Slopestyle and Halfpipe. New to this year are the TTR Qualifying Events, where the winner joins the invited list of riders in men´s Slopestyle and Halfpipe.

Competitors from Burton's Global Rookie Team including Mads Jonsson, Freddi Kalbermatten, Nicolas Müller, Heikki Sorsa, Jaakko Seppala, Iker Fernandez and Kjersti Buaas, plus the best riders from major snowboard brands, will star in the comp.

Judging will be done by riders - stars from both the past and today, and judging will be based on pure jam sessions.
