Hillend to host comp
BUSC,
The British Universities Snowsports Council, is heading north of
the border over 14-15 Nov for the largest dryslope event of its
kind this year. Hillend, Edinburgh, is set to host a weekend of
top class competition and enough off-slope antics to keep the crowds
buzzing well into the New Year.
Big Air, GS and a ball
Skiers and boarders will be treated to much more than the traditional
GS or Slalom comp. BUSC will be putting on team parallels, Big Air
and slopestyle ensuring the BUDS lives up to its recognition by
BUSA as the UK’s official Dryslope Champs. Add to this demo-riders,
a pro-am comp and live beats slopeside and you’ve found the unmistakeable
flavour of a BUSC event.
The weekend will be capped off by a themed black-tie ball on the
Saturday night at the Royal Highland Showground’s. After a sit down
dinner the 1000 strong crowd will be entertained by live bands,
DJs and a heavily discounted bar.
Entertainment on and off piste
The entertainment line-up on the slope is scheduled to include:
- Ritchie Ruftone (Scottish DMC Champion: Hip-Hop)
- Brad (Hip-Hop)
- Keyte (Funk de la Tech: Spinning 45s from the 70’s, 80’s, hip-hop
and house)
- Jay-Hay (Sub Club, Glasgow)
- DJ Furious Breaks (APB Sound, Soundhaus, Glasgow)
- Grounds Keeper Wullie (Sub Club, Glasgow)
Dining ball tickets are priced at £38 (including free transport
to and from the event), a non-dining ‘gatecrasher’ ticket will be
available for £15. Bar prices will be very student orientated, thanks
to BUSC running its own bar. Tickets are available by e-mailing
BUSC direct.
