London Premiere
One of the highlights of this year's London
Film Festival will be the premiere of Joe Simpson's epic story,
'Touching
the Void'.
Showing at the Odeon
West End on 27 October, the movie is a dramatised documentary that
tells the true story of one man's desperate fight for survival after
a horrific accident whilst climbing with a friend in the remote
mountains of Peru.
Against the odds
Despite falling and breaking both legs, being accidentally lowered
over a crevasse and subsequently having the rope on which he was
dangling cut, Joe manages to survive, against all the odds, and
crawl back to base camp in an incredible feat of sheer will power
and stubbornness.
Oscar winning director Kevin MacDonald directs this feature length
film, based on Simpson's international best-selling book which,
with locations in Peru and the Alps. It has taken over two years
to make.
Kendal Mountain showing
If you can’t make London, the film will also be showing at the Kendal
Mountain Film Festival, where it will be presented by Simpson himself
on the Saturday of the main festival weekend (12-16 November).
