CARDRONA OPENING WEEKEND

23June 2003

Opening day at Cardrona greeted us with sunshine, blue skies and a happy, chilled out vibe. Locals and Season workers stoked to be up the hill in perfect weather made the best of the limited snow coverage.

Save the new gear for now
Two of the three main trails are currently open with ample snow if you stick to these pisted areas. However if you've just brought a new board I'd recommend keeping it wrapped up until the next dump having heard several tales of rocks getting gnarly with pristine bases.

Conditions are perfect for beginners, getting your snow legs back and having a play around with riding buddies...no queues and quiet runs.

Sun and good snow
"We couldn't have asked for better weather for opening day," said Shaun Gilbertson, Operations manager. "The sun is shining, the wind is nowhere to be seen and the temperatures are cold enough to keep the snow good and dry."

Here's to the next snow fall.....bring it on!!
