And it was all going so well...
Thursday 12th June brought us back to the true realities of an Australian
ski season with torrential rain, gale force winds & warm temperatures
in resort. We lost a significant amount of snow, luckily the temperature
did manage to drop back to freezing before everything washed away
and the snowmaking crews were able to make snow during Thursday
night.
Aussie snowline at 900m
The
cold front moved in during Friday 13th June and we had flakes falling
by late afternoon. We woke this morning (Sat 14th June) to around
20cms of extremely dry fresh snow. Everything is again looking very
wintry & the prediction is for the snow to continue through to next
weekend. The latest report has the snow line down to 900 meters,
very respectable for Australian standards.
Respect to the firefighters
Falls Creek is currently hosting the CFA strike teams thank-you
weekend, for all the courageous Men & Women who faught the devastating
bush fires that burnt out 1.3 million hectares of Victorian Parks
& Forests over the summer. These are the Men & Women who saved Falls
Creek Village, without them we would not be here this winter. Respect
!!!
