Over
in Sunday River, English Freestyle Skier Brad Scott (16) swept the
board in the under 16 age group at the American Nationals taking
gold medals in Halfpipe, Slopestyle and Skiercross.
In the Halfpipe he came 2nd overall in all age groups, and included
big amplitude straight airs (max was around 10-12 ft out) alley-oops,
360's & switch straight airs. His slopestyle run included rails
with straight to switch switch on/270 off, to a big laid out 50ft
backflip to 360 mute to straight on/switch off and the straight
to straight to finish.
Brad was born in Coventry an dlived in the UK until
moving to Lake Tahoe in 2000 after his mother died of breast cancer.
He is currently a member of the England Freestyle team and will
be training in Tignes over the summer after participating in the
Fall Line Ski Test.
9th for Last, 10th for Bennett in Andorra
Tom Last (England Freestyle Ski Team, Line Skis and Smith Goggles)
led the way for the British at the recent Europa Cup finals in Andorra
(21-24 March).
Tom (17 years old) achieved a magnificent ninth place - the best
by a non-French skier - in the halfpipe and tenth place in the slope
style out of 38 of Europe's best New Scool skiers. This was nearly
matched by British Team Skier Andy Bennett (Fat Face, Line Skis
and Hestra) who placed tenth in the slopestyle and twelfth in the
halfpipe.
Great season for British team
The top ten results for Andy and Tom follow a great season of victories
and top 3 placings for the pair in competitions around Europe
and the USA. British Development Team Skier Chris David (25)
was the best placed mogul skier, narrowly missing out of a finals
placing after finishing eighteenth.
