Day
Four - Slopestyle
Despite the huge party, the numbers
at the ChamJam Slope-style on Thursday weren't diminished. Sadly
it wasn't the late night that curtailed proceedings, but the unfortunate
white out that made the slope style impossible, forcing it to be
rescheduled for Saturday.
No noise allowed
In the meantime, the organisers had spent the whole day in meetings
with the Mayor and his side kicks, discussing the inevitable problems
that the noise from the night before had caused. There were reports
of Kela's vocal trickery from Argentiere, 8 km up the valley. Unfortunately,
the Mayor decided that, despite the huge buzz around town and the
"clear as crystal" authorisations for a music festival between the
hours of 10pm and 4am Wednesday through Saturday, that the Thursday
and Friday nights would have to be cancelled. This news filtered
through just as David Holmes and his band, the Free Association
turned up - the disappointment was tangible.
ChamJamming Action
In the face of this adversity, everyone redirected their energy
into the only alternative, turning the Arbate into a pulsing inferno
of crazy ChamJammers. The Fingerlickin' trio of Krafty Kuts and
Soul of Man were inspirational, and the place was rammed to the
tunes of the Dexorcist until the club reluctantly closed it's doors.
