FINDING THE ENDLESS WINTER

23 January 2003

Looking for that endless winter? One way to make sure you manage to make your friends green with envy is to head down to New Zealand to keep the ride going year round. There are some fantastic opportunities and some great resorts to discover, but if you are looking for something a little different and can take the pace, these tours might just be the thing for you…

Roadtrip Downunder
Dvance's New Zealand Snowboard and ski camp is both an awesome camp and a crazy roadtrip. The two-week journey takes campers through New Zealand's nine greatest mountains and three coolest resort towns. As campers ride, slide and huck their way through eight superpipes, 30 jumps, 20+ rails, and limitless powder, chutes & backcountry kickers, they will be accompanied by some of the world's greatest pros and coaches, including: Michi Albin, Gian Simmen, Julien Regnier & Phil Meier.

In addition to two-weeks of unbelievable riding, campers will take part in several awesome off-mountain activities: sky diving, dolphin swimming, 4W dirtbiking, to name a few, and have the opportunity to spend a day heli-boarding on NZ's highest mountain and/or cat skiing in the region where the Lord of the Rings was filmed. Camp starts in August. More info.

Freesoulfider brings home the backcountry
Freesoulrider "all-mountain snow tours" offer a unique opportunity for keen boarders and skiiers to enjoy some of the best freeriding and freeskiing terrain on the planet. With a solid background in off-piste alpine explorations, Freesoulrider has developed fresh new tours that reflect the full potential of these sports. If straight-lining rock chutes or launching made-to-measure backcountry kickers sounds like your kind of thing, its time to look them up.

The Southern Exposure Tour, New Zealand 2003
Led across the majestic peaks of New Zealand's South island by a UIAGM qualified mountain guide, Freesoulrider's 14 day Southern Exposure Tour offers the chance to cut lines across virgin powder bowls, drop wind-sculpted cornices and cruise luxurious run-outs.

Some days the access will be on foot, on others, the intense adrenalin hit of a HELI DAY beckons. And when the backcountry isn't on, there's always the park, pipe, and natural resort hits to session, with Freesoulrider veterans on hand to help you push your freestyle ability to ever-higher levels.

You don't have to be a great snowboarder or skiier to enjoy a Freesoulrider tour, but you will want a sense of adventure and a passion for your sport. Its about pushing yourself higher and kicking back at the same time, all in the company of like-minded folk. And back at the lodge, Freesoulrider will take care of the boring stuff so that you can keep the beer and music flowing. Check out the current tours.

Freesoulrider are offering a discount if you mention "Natives" when you book.
