Qualification halfpipe girls
The Burton European Open continued today with the Women Halfpipe Qualification. 31 girls entered the competition, the best eight of them qualified for the Finals on Wednesday, Jan. 22nd, where they join invited riders like Olympic Champion Kelly Clark/USA and Natasza Zurek/CAN. Again the weather conditions were great with sunshine and blue sky and the pipe was epic for the girls to ride.

The contest format was a one hour Jam Session, were the judges focused on the Overall Impression during this session. This meant that the girls had to show variations including standard airs, rotations, good height and a clean execution of the tricks.

The big surprise was Spanish rider Cuca Aranda, the winner of today's qualification, who impressed with nice frontside 5's, super clean standard airs and good height. Also Italian rider Rita Comi, as well as Norwegian Elin Holvik convinced the judges because of they went constantly big in their runs. The final is today, January 22.
