Pre-qualification halfpipe men
The Burton European Open kicked off in Livigno last Sunday with the Halfpipe men pre-qualifications. Bluebird and sunshine welcomed the riders at the first competition day. The 150m pipe was sick and the setup impressing.

95 riders entered the pre-qualifications, the best 24 move on to the qualification on Tuesday to join the 24 invited riders. Four heats were held, the best six riders out of each heat made it.

Outstanding riders of today were the two youngest participants Luke Mitrani and Olivier Gittler, both 12 years old Burton riders from the Junior Team. Oliver Gittler, last year's Junior Jam Winner of the Burton European Open showed difficult and technical tricks like McTwist to AllyOop McTwist Combos. Luke went super big with nice frontside 540's and backside 540's. Finnish kid Eero Ettala impressed the judges with super smooth frontside 7's to Haakon Flip Combos. Swiss Reto Kestenholz went bigger than most of the riders today with huge flips.

The Riders Sound Party hosted by Onboard Italia was Sunday night at Marco's in Livigno. Monday 20th Jan was the qualifications for Women's Halfpipe as well as the pre-qualification for the Men's Slopestyle.
