SERRE CHEVALIER UPDATE

16 December 2001

More artificial snow, but good pistes

Serre Chevalier opened the resort today (Saturday 15th December). As with the rest of the Alps we have had many days of bue skies and sunshine although it has been extremely cold, so the snow cannons have been working day and night to provide us with good amounts of artificial snow.

So far the resort has opened a couple of pistes in each of the four areas - mostly reds and blacks, plus nursery slopes and they are running free ski buses between these. Everyone who went out on the slopes today - unfortunately not me! - said the conditions of the pistes that were open were very good.

Until further notice the resort are just selling their lift passes on a daily basis/per area. It is not possible to buy area passes for the week at the moment. Saisonnaires can still but full season passes as normal.

Most companies now have their staff in resort and the saisonnaires parties are starting, With the opening of Club Med this year in Serre Che there should be a couple more hundred workers in the resort. The Lievre Blanc Bar have their party this evening. The Frog has been re-furbished this year and is looking very nice, they have a party on Thurday night (20th).

That's all for a now!
