| SALT LAKE CITY UPDATE |

After a snowy start to the season in Utah, things have settled down and with resorts open and past the holiday season all eyes are now turned to Feb 9 2002. The locals (at least the serious powder freaks)
are seriously miffed that this Olympic thing could really
throw a wrench into what could be an (epic) season. Many of you are saying "and so what is
so unusual about that?" Here in this country this is
an entirely different thing now. Seems we Yanks have been
sleeping at the wheel some and just now realized we should
maybe pay closer attention to what is going on around the
world. These games will also be worth watching as some of the venues have not been tested much. Word is the Grizzly Downhill at Snowbasin rivals even the Val d'Isere downhill of '92. The first 100 meters or so are pitched 70 degrees and speeds out of the start house could hit 90 mph plus. Also the speed skating oval has already seen some American records fall and everyone thinks some Olympic records will fall as well. As with every Olympics, goodwill, peace and prosperity for all must be the focus. Since 9/11, myself and my family have changed our attitude and presumptions drastically. And I know many in the rest of the world are nodding their heads knowingly. I hope we can come together in a peaceful and somewhat organized fashion to show those who would have it otherwise that we are united and will remain so regardless. With that thought I will leave you while I
keep a wary eye out for the security services G.O. Report from George Ott - Natives Salt Lake City
