VERBIER UPDATE

9 January 2002

A month-long lock-in at the Pub Mont Fort
!

Apologies for going AWOL on all you Verbier fans but have just escaped a month-long lock-in at the Pub Mont Fort. Blame it on the shakers. Have released myself for 48 hours in a bid to bin my cold, do some necessary laundry (nice) and get a snow report out to all you lot back home.

No tales of fresh tracks and perfect powder days just yet, I'm sorry to say, but snow conditions are fair to middling and alot of the runs across the Four Vallees are now open (although they're not all linked). The pistes have just enough cover to hide the rocks but I wouldn't recommend venturing off-piste right now unless you want a ride in a helicopter.

Half the snowboard park is open at La Chaux with rails and intermediate and beginner jumps for the taking. If you're a skier, head to the top of Mont Fort and brave the moguls - ooh how they've grown! Tortin has yet to open, but will keep you mogul-munchers posted.

The 3-day forecast is for more sun and no snow. Sorry - I'll speak to the big guy upstairs.

Apres-ski is kicking off everywhere. Pub Mont Fort's happy hour started today - everything (including champers!) is half price from 4pm till 5pm.

It's Vodka Red Bull night tonight (Sunday) so the clubs will do well when we can't get no sleep. Did a bar-crawl on New Year's Eve and gave the Pub, Garbos, Taras, Marshalls and Crok two thumbs up. Got the 10am shuttle bus home to bed so it must have been a good night.

Anyway - Ican smell the Red Bull from my sickbed so the cold is on hold.

Adios amigos.

Mandy
