A bit more detail than usual 'cos it was our
first day out! Great skiing and boarding
above 1850 on the opening weekend.
So what's open?
Basically Chenus, Biollay, Verdons and Saulire lifts are open (and
all the pistes in between). The Premier Neige pass also allows you
to ski down to Mottaret and back via Pas du Lac. This is in great
condition in lovely sunshine, it does get a bit hard as you arrive
in resort - nothing new there then!
So where's the best snow?
Biollay is also in excellent condition (but thin cover in places)
and the runs from the top of Chenus and especially Saulire are as
good as ever. The closed Lac Bleu and Creux runs (with a walk or
hitch down to 1650) are superb but the odd rocks are still poking
through in places.
Can you ski down to resort?
Finally, the (closed) run down to La Tania was absolutely awesome
high up above the Gondola station. Well worth the run down even
if the bottom section down in to resort is a mixture of artificial
man-made icy crud with the odd rock poking through - this will of
course be sorted out by the army of piste bashers before we open
next Saturday. The mounds from the snow cannons will be flattened
out and the resort runs will definitely open.
Sun is shining once again, better get out
there.....
