BUDS - ONE DAY - ONE NIGHT - ONE JUMP

31 October 2002

The BUSC Dryslope Championships this year is opening up the competition beyond the normal student boundaries to feature a pro-am competition in the skier and boarder big air, as well as the new slopestyle event.

Six Hundred competitors
BUDS is the biggest dryslope competition in Europe with well over 600 competitors descending on Midlothian Ski Centre to take part in racing and freestyle competitions as well as to get involved in the biggest party Edinburgh has ever seen…

The Endsleigh freestyle arena at the slope will see action all day on Saturday including the LINE skis big air and the JanSport slopestyle competition, which has four specially built rails and funboxes.

Big Air Competition Open to All
One day will culminate in the One Jump super final where the best of the skiers and boarders, pros and amateur will hit the kicker and stand to take home their share of the £1000 prize pot.

Meanwhile, both Friday and Saturday will see action in the KPMG race zone with slalom, GS and parallel competitions for both skiers and boarders.

After-Party set to go off
To get the vibe going, there’ll be DJs slopeside all day with a sound system that carries a health warning blowing minds from Edinburgh to Glasgow and back, and in the Optic Nerve marquee, bands and the bar are set to go.

As sure as night follows day, parties follow BUDS, and this year the One Night party is set to go off. BUSC has broken out the best talent from Edinburgh and around, and is featuring the awesome Travler, Great Bear and The Ruffness on the main stage, with hip hop from El Segundo and friends in the back. Upping the Ante, beatboxers, MCs, breakdancers will keep the floor busy while an enormous skate park is being constructed and skaters and BMXers will bust moves to delight the crowd.
