NZ FINAL WEEKEND FLING IN CARDRONA

23 October 2002

Cardrona Alpine Resort will reopen for a final ski and snowboard this Saturday and Sunday of Labour weekend.

Hoping for powder
“The snow is great for this time of year“ according to Operations manager Shaun Gilbertson. “It has been a number of years since we reopened for Labour weekend. As a last opportunity to play in the snow it has always been popular. The weather forecast is good, we might even have some powder for Saturday morning“.

All three chairlifts plus beginners carpets and platter will be operating. Base facilities will be limited to rental, ticketing, ski and snowboard school and a small range of food and drink from the base café.

Snow depth up to 1.5 metres
The current snow depth varies between 80cm and 1.5 metres. Conditions over the weekend will be a mix of winter and spring snow.

Day lift passes will be at the reduced rate of $45 for an adult and $24 for a child. Season pass holders from ALL other New Zealand mountains will be able to buy a lift pass for $30 adult and $15 child.

Other ski areas still open in NZ
Whakapapa - Closes 28th October
Turoa - Closes 10th November
