28 June 2001

Recent snowfalls at Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt have picked up snow conditions just when it was needed.

All three ski areas have received snow in the past 24 hours with The Remarkables receiving 15cm, Coronet Peak 5-10cm, and Canterbury's Mt Hutt 30cm.

And the good news is that more snow is expected over the weekend with a Southerly change in the forecast.

Conditions are described as excellent at Coronet Peak with 100% of beginner/novice trails available, 75% of intermediate trails and approximately 15% of advanced trails open. Off trail, good skiing and riding conditions are available on the upper mountain with pockets of new snow.
Snowmaking was also in progress at Coronet Peak earlier today (Thursday June 28).

The Remarkables has an average 70cm base on the main trails. All main trails in Sugar Bowl, Alta lift areas and the beginner areas were groomed overnight providing The Remarkables with 100% beginner/novice terrain open and 50% intermediate terrain available.

With over 30cm of new light and dry snow in the past 24 hours, Mt Hutt now has a solid base of 60cm. Lifts open are Quad chair, Platter 1 & 2, T-Bar 2B and Handle Tow. Mt Hutt has 100% beginner/novice terrain available, 90% intermediate, and 60% advanced terrain.
