It's currently sunny and very warm here in Arinsal, with temperatures touching the 30's but with a pleasant breeze taking away the heat of the sun. Bars are opening their terraces and summer is now officially here, with today being the longest day of the year and the first day of summer. With this comes all the summer festivals, activities and street parties for towns and villages all over the country. This weekend, people all over Catalunya and Andorra are preparing themselves for Saturday night. With today being the longest day of the year and the first day of summer, all the festivals and traditions which perpetuate Andorra's traditions spring into action with the warm summer nights. It all starts at midnight on 23rd June - Saint John's night - and in Andorra, the occasion has traditionally been associated with things which burn, make loud noises and go 'bang!' Fires are lit throughout Catalunya and Andorra with fireworks and firecrackers being set off in the streets. A great party atmosphere engulfs the whole country with people dancing in the streets to live bands and traditional music. The ski station of Pal has opened its doors and is offering its visitors an amazing amount of activities, events and excursions. On 30 June, the village of Pal celebrates its Fiesta Major - the village's main summer festival. Once again, live bands, parties and dancing in the streets are the order of the day. Well worth a visit for those into finding out more about Andorran culture and history. Amongst many other events coming up next month
