CHAMJAM 2001 UPDATE
16 February 2001

Following our previous report on the Chamjam (5-9 March) it's now been confirmed that Ash, Hybrid (provided by Radio 1) Leftfield Sound System and Pressure Drop will all be performing at the event.

Each day the DJs & artists will play at the competition venue on the mountain (using a 10k TurboSound rig!) while specatators enjoy the BBQ and bar. Following the action on the mountain, there will be a Prize Giving Ceremony in the snow at the bottom of the hill each day followed by a live set by one of the acts.

The town will be kicking off big time as local bands from Chamonix and other resorts perform and the Garage and Dicks Tea Bar play host to top DJs from around Europe. The MTV Snowball Party will take place on Wednesday 7 March at Bar du Moulin with a line up including Jacques Lu Cont (Les Rhythmes Digitales), Smokin Jo, Corin Martin, Rob Mac (Scratch/Speeka) and Matt Smooth (Scratch/Speeka).

As we revealed earlier this month, Radio 1 will be heavily involved in the event. The Jo Whiley Show will be broadcasting live from Les Grands Montets on Thursday 8 March (the day of the Boss des Bosses and Big Air), with Ash playing live on the mountain. In the evening Hybrid will be performing as the evening show goes out live from the town centre.

BBC's Ski Sunday will also be present, putting together a 15 minute package on the most exciting music and freesports event in the Alps. Turn on, tune in and drop out... (or something like that!).
