ARTIFICIAL CHAMPS POSTPONED DUE TO FUEL CRISIS

16 September 2000

Although skiing is generally a fuel free method of transport - excluding the odd Glühwein - the current UK petrol crisis has halted British Ski and Snowboard Federation plans to host the British Artificial Championships at Wycombe Summit this weekend (16/17 September).

The annual slalom and giant slalom event had attracted entries from 224 competitors, aged 15 to 50, from as far afield as Aviemore, Sunderland and Llandudno - not to mention the now legendary Dublin entry.

All have been left high and dry in the run up to what would have been the premier event on the UK Dry Slope calendar.

Organisers are now faced with the challenge of rescheduling the event in an already packed events calendar.

The planned British Team fundraising aution, will also be postponed.
