'A white-knuckle ride and an ear-bursting music festival rolled into one'
The Guardian, April 2002

(c) Camelia LiparotiNow in its 7th year, the Chamjam is now established as one of the highlights of the season.

It's mix of boarding, skiing and music makes it one of the most respected competitions in Europe, showcasing some of the finest talent in snow sports, set to a phat soundtrack!

Both pros and amateurs star alongside each other in the individual events, which feature a world standard course for both Boarder X and Skier X and a monster Big Air, designed to bring out the best in current snowboarding and skiing. The slopestyle contest uses kickers and rails, where riders are judged similar to a half pipe on their amplitude and difficulty.

With jaw dropping technical and freestyle manoeuvres, this year the Big Air is even more likely to bring out the best with a massive prize purse on offer.

The 14th Boss des Bosses

As old-schoolers will know, the Chamjam was born 13 years ago, when ski bums from Chamonix challenged Val d'Isere to an inter-resort bumps (the Boss des Bosses) to prove who was really the best on the mountain. The competition grew and is now fought between the two originals, plus Zermatt, Meribel and Courchevel (and this year possibly Val Thorens).

This year the Boss des Bosses is being sponsored by Natives. Resort workers and competitors should check our dedicated Boss des Bosses page for details of teams/coaches/lift passes etc.

Big Beats

Each evening will see dedicated live music and club nights in three quality venues around Chamonix - now almost as famous for its off-snow escapades as it is for on. The atmosphere is sure to be as charged as ever, but in spite of the ever increasing media attention the essence of the event remains the same with its core values intact. Acts for this year will be confirmed shortly. [Check the schedule]

There will be over 1000 minutes of coverage across the world, so it'll be hard to miss it! And just in case you do, of course Natives will have everything you need to know just here  :-)
