JAMES GAMBRILL'S OZ UPDATE

20 July 2000

More snow!

With NZ languishing under rain and high temperatures Oz has received a dump to put all others this season to shame!

Thredbo has received approximately 1m of snow in the last 48 hours and it"s still going. Forecast is for the snow to ease on Sunday...and another front is them moving on Monday with blizzard conditions developing...

Mt Hotham in Victoria is being forced to turn away some coaches as the roads up to the resort are too dangerous for large vehicles.

Word from the slopes is that this is the lightest, driest powder snow that many Australians have ever experienced. Current conditions are a little difficult with gale force winds around the higher peaks but once they ease off it should be superb everywhere. I'll be sure to let you know........

James
