NZ UPDATE - NIGEL KERR

22 June 2001

CARDRONA TO OPEN TOMORROW WITH ALL LIFTS

15cm of new snow fell early this morning, right on queue with the shortest day! And perfectly timed for the opening of Cardrona's 2001 winter season.

The new snow means Cardrona will open all lifts and all base facilities tomorrow. The average upper mountain base is 35cm, the lower mountain averages 15cm. The two quads, Captains and MacDougalls will have several groomed runs. The La Franchi double chair and Arcadia basin will be limited and 'interesting' skiing and boarding.

This early in the season off piste will be limited initially but after it has been ski packed should open up.

Catch up on the conditions at www.cardrona.com/daily.htm and check in to the web cam to see more of this picture above. I apologise to anybody trying for a glimpse this morning. The poor camera picked up a face full of snow!

Regards
