NZ UPDATE - NIGEL KERR

13 July 2001

Good winter snow conditions continue at Cardrona right now. 20-45cm
average base over the entire mountain.

Dry packed natural snow, pretty fluffy right now, with cold dry temperatures over the past few days.

A few patches emerging of hard packed snow on the lower double and rollovers. However, a skiff of new snow overnight has freshened things up measurably for the last mid week day of the holidays and it's turned out a beauty!

Estimate 100% Learner terrain and 100% Intermediate terrain open. Only 50% of advanced terrain. It's early in the season yet so off-piste there are still some unmarked hazards lurking.

Today we have the Burton Pipe Jam on with 30 of NZ's top riders putting on a spectacle. Live music with downtown Brown and heaps of giveaways for the spectators.

Tomorrow it's the Salomon pipe event for SKIERS! Twin tips are definitely making SKIING COOL again and a large field is expected to turn out for this inaugural event. With deliveries of some twin tips in short supply in NZ this winter due to a sell out in the Northern Hemisphere you really should check this out.

Hope to see you soon.
